Why Did You Start Your Own Business?
That is the question that I get asked from time to time. Here is my journey…
I started this business to be closer to my family. Coming from a retail background, I have always enjoyed customer interaction. I have been working in healthcare-based IT for the last two years. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do when I “grew up”. Until I was on break at my second job, and talking to my brother about viable options. We discussed marketable skills that I brought to the table. During that discussion, the topic of web design kept creeping in. Brainstorming ways that I could still work the two jobs that I already had, while effectively marketing That Place for Computers.
Although I dabbled in web design during my time in college, I never thought of it as a full-time job, until now. The next few days after our initial discussion, I began to realize web design was something that I really enjoyed. Creating content for people, maximizing search engine optimization, and designing pages that were user-friendly, as well as, easy to navigate.
I am currently marketing my brand on my Facebook page with constant updates, as well as, on my Instagram page. In addition to, building sites for local small businesses in order to build my portfolio in order to transition this company into a full time venture.
In summary, I saw the need to bring small town prices to business owners in the market for their own website to grow their brand, and bring more clients and potential revenue to them. With the help of my brother. Who has been instrumental in getting this venture moving in the right direction, with his constant insight and advice. I am confident that we will succeed.
